ONE photo!!!
Ok, so here's how it goes... Monash Photography Club organises this trip to the You Yangs, citing spectacular views and heaps of wildlife.

Turns out, its more of a social event than a photography trip, and a bunch of about 50 of us take a short 40min walk up a little peak, making enough noise to scare away anything with ears in a 50m radius of the group. On top of that its a rushed walk, leaving hardly any time to compose photos, sniff the flowers etc. Why the rush? A Barbecue lunch... food's always the culprit isn't it??

Ok so I've dragged myself out of bed early on a Saturday morning, taken a 1 1/2hr bus ride to the You Yangs, and find myself amongst a bunch of chatty uni students who sound kinda like a fish market (don't get me wrong, they were a great bunch, but hey I really wanted to get some photos out of the trip... after all it was supposed to be a "photography trip"!). Then, to rub it in, in the rush to keep up with the group, I fumbled and dropped my camera while mounting it to a monopod, effectively ending the useful life of my trusty 70-300mm lens. Great, there goes all hope of wildlife now, not to mention the photography assignment worth 50% that I'll have to do in the coming week.

In all though, I got ONE photo out of it. So here it is. Had to take it with my 50mm, so this is a majorly cropped photo, but hey, I'm glad I didn't come home empty handed after all! Hmm... and maybe I have a new excuse to pick up a nice 400mm 5.6L prime! Wonder if my parents will fund that.... ah quit dreaming Chris!
