Took these last Fall at MaiSan, TapSa Temple.
The great number of stone piles make this a unique temple.
They are said to be the work of single reclusive monk, Lee Gab Ryong.
The temple is located at the base of Maisan, which is known for its
two large mountain peaks that kind of look like horse ears when viewed
from a distance.

"The group of 80 stone towers represents the best of Mt. Mai touring. Many stones are piled up in an orderly fashion to make these towers (local memorial no. 35). The cone-shaped stone towers, including 15 meter high Cheonji top tower, are indeed a must-see. The mystery of the towers is that though they sway in the wind, they don't crumble. And the mystery can not be explained with modern geometry. It is said that the recluse, Lee Gab-ryong, built these towers while inspired by God. He carried stones one by one from famous mountains, nationwide, by himself. It took 10 years to complete the towers that symbolize his wish to save mankind and to atone for our sins."
