End The Occupation Conference (ETOC) 2005
|
|
Theme: When Injustice Is Law, Resistance Is Duty
The ETOC was organized by FOSIS (Federation of Student Islamic Societies) UK & Ireland and also Islamic Human Rights Comission (IHRC) on the 21-22 March 2005, preceded by a peaceful Anti-War March on the 18th, it was a truely eye-opener for a lot of people. The speakers were great, the speeches were mind-blowing, we had a full-house.
As for myself, I was a late-involver in this conference, my efforts put on to make this conference possible were incomparable to what fellow friends; Haseeb, Fahad, Dolly etc did. May Allah bless them with the highest rewards for what they've done.
Out of that:
1. Let's educate ourselves with the current issues of the world, let's sometimes think about the ummah rather than obsessing on our very own self and the world's materials.
2. Boycott Israeli Product Campaign!!
Just how far do u think this might work? Well if I tell u this is the BEST of thing u could do to aid our oppressed brothers and sisters in Palestine, Iraq, Afghan would u believe me? History tells us that boycotting has been a powerful tool of bringing the oppressors down, the best example would be the apartheid in Africa. Why make ourself a disaster of restriction from buying those 'great' Israeli's goods? Well think again, every little cent u spend would be used on buying bullets and armors that ended up destroying the Palestanians house, exploding their bodies to bits, killing the innocents. This is not only about religion, it's about justice now. And those two intertwined perfectly in what Islam teaches us, so if u say that you're a really good Muslim, have u no thrills of sadness and regrets in your heart when u chew those BigMacs or gulp down Coca-colas when u know in every burp u had, few innocents people are oppressed and killed in other part of the world?

So why is it, that you do not fight in the way of Allah, and for the abased among men, women, and children who say: 'Our Lord, bring us out from this village whose people are harmdoers, and give to us a guardian from You, and give to us a helper from You.'
Surah 4, Ayah 75
