Last week I receive a facebook message from a Singaporean friend, Lindah. The Bristol grad whom I knew through another Singaporean and fellow UCL grad, Rabi'ah. She said she got a free tix and wanted to visit me. Yay!! Rabi'ah visited me June last year and now Lindah. How come only my Singaporean friends are visiting me?
Normallah kan orang datang melancong. Yang tak normal pasal visit Puan Lindah ini ialah.. she's only here for a day!! Yes tuan2 & puan2, tukang masak & tukang bancuh simen. Her flight landed at Narita at 7 am Saturday and she's back at Narita for her flight home 930am Sunday. Very the Amazing race gitu!!
So, I told her to take the Keisei line and I'll meet her in Ueno eki. I took Intan with me. It's the long New Year break (yang takde break, aku aje!!

) Like Rabi'ah last year, Lindah already researched the places she wanted to see. So, all I've got to do is planned the day and take her on the wonderful Tokyo train system.
First order of the day is Asakusa. I myself haven't been there. So, sama2lah jadi tourist hari tu. Asakusa have preserved a certain atmosphere of the old Tokyo. Asakusa's main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries. Lindah bought two nice short kimono. Kata taknak shopping makcik tu
Then we moved to Harajuku, center of Japan's most extreme teenage cultures and fashion styles. Before that, we took her to Tenya. Since she requested to eat tenpura & sushi. She liked the tendon. Yay!! Then we strolled Takeshita Dori and makcik ni gila2 pening suka dengan baju2 kat kedai2 situ. She tried on a lot of cute dresses and bought one. After that ajak dia makan crepe pula. And she explored the 100yen shop there. Sume benda2 yg very Japanese-like.
Dari Harajuku, we went Shinjuku. Old Tokyo dah, young hip Tokyo dah. Now it's turn for Tokyo redlight district. Ala2 Lorong Haji Taib gitu tapi happening and not as scary (macamlah aku pernah pergi Lorong Haji Taib pun!!) hehehe. Kabukicho, named after a kabuki theater, features countless restaurants, bars, pachinko parlors, love hotels and a wide variety of red light establishments for both sexes and sexual orientations. Kitorang yg orang Tokyo pun tak jalan2 kat situ tapi ada tetamu request, so pergilah kami ke sana.
Kaki pun sudah penat, at 630 we decided to call it a day. Skrg winter 430 dah gelap. Bawak dia makan di kedai sushi 100yen near my place. Bella were there too. Balik rumah, borak2 dan ketiduran.
Sunday, 430 am dah bangun and I sent her to take the bus to the airport at Seiseki. The bus was at 530 am. After bye2, I went straighgt to school sampai pak guard pun tegur. Dahlah cuti, sekolah tutup but I semangat waja ke lab juga.
Demikianlah amazing race si Lindah. I hoped she liked the short visit. She experienced a lot of Japanese culture even for a day. Lepas ni datang lama2 sikit ya Lindah
Btw, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! YOI OTOSHI O!
