It was Friday and my roomates and i went for an outing to pekan pilah. We decided to go to Upwell because they have a pasar malam on Fridays near Upwell (kalau kat sini, Upwell tu mcm Sogo, Giant..the only thing is people go there just because they have nowhere else to go.hahah!). Anyway, we asked a sales assistant at Upwell where was the surau. She said that the only surau available were across the street, near a residential area. We walked out of Upwell, crossed the street, passed some bushes and came across a small house-like surau. We weren't sure at first whether it was a surau or not. Alas, we decided to redah je lah. We came through the side door, and found an old lady in her mid 50s, praying. I put down my bag and waited for my roomates to perform their ablution (wuduk). While waiting, the old lady asked me where i came from. I later found out that she was a hawker at the night market, and has three children. She told me that her first child is studying forestry in UPM and used to study in KMNS too. I was surprised by how open she was to tell me about her personal life. After a while, her old skinny hands folded the telekung and kept them in a worn out bag. She said her salam, and stood up to leave. Somehow, the short acquaintance had an impact on me. I don't really know why..
