UNITEN Rowers participated in the 12th Merlion Rowing Championship in Singapore last May. We went by night train and reached Singapore at 9.30++ the morning after. Sungguh lama naik keretapi ituu.. Participants were from Malaysia, Iran, Phillipines, Indonesia, Singapore & Thailand. I've been informed that many other previous participants namely Kazakhstan did not come as they had a tournament in Japan around that time.
The event took place in Pandan Reservoir area. Have u ever heard of the singapore's processing mineral water from treated waste water? Pandan Reservoir was one of the sources. The water was a bit smelly and in dark green color indicating there were billions of microorganisms in it.
Lucky for us Malaysian we do have lots of lakes and rivers yang masih belum dicemari, e.g Ampangan Batu, Tasik Putrajaya etc, that we can paddled & rows dgn gembira, nak capsize pun x geli sgt. hee heee and tak payah pun nak treat waste water jadi mineral water.
