Lisa's Wedding Ceremony in Jakarta 26 Agustus 2006
Congratulations to Lisa and Yuyi!
My trip report in brief
Day 1
Azim org first kena tinggal dek Faisal.I quote Faisal “Sape lambat,TINGGAL!!!”..He said it with a bitchy face of course! ;P (Kesian Azim!hahahaha!)
Irma pulak kena tinggal dek Faisal at KL Sentral so he took the train with me.haha
KL809 KUL - CGK 1550-1650.Flight was full to the brim!No upgrades!DEMIT!Took off a bit late but landed quite on time.
Immigration:line was long and slow.
Hopped onto an van and took off to Sultan Hotel.(When we bought the package, the hotel was still called Jakarta Hilton but alas, the name was changed just 2 days before! So much for wanting to stay in a Hilton!heck!).MACET!!!a.k.a. traffic jam!(Friday MACET!!!).2.5 hrs of what could have only taken 45 mins!
Checked in at the hotel.Nice interior and carvings.Exquisitely Indonesian.
A sleek Peugeot 407 and hot 3-series Beamer (jaws dropped!) picked us all up and off we went to Bebek Bali for dinner.(D Siti N been here 2x already).Great duck cuisine!
Went to CITOS (Ciputra Town Square) which very much resembles ‘The Curve’ in PJ for a late night ‘nongkrong’ session and the unexpected delight of some carnal actions!hahaha!(I’ll leave it to your imagination ;P)
Day 2
Hearty breakfast at the Peacock Coffee House.Nasi Uduk was superb!
Plaza Senayan - CD scouting for my two brothers. Ambassador - found a batik shirt that I really liked (simply ravishing and it was in red with aggressive designs all over!) but it could burn a hole in my pocket instantly. So,forget it!
Witnessed Lisa’s akad nikah at Gedung Granadi.Quite an event.Different from Malaysia.MC led the event,he had a very thick Indo accent so didn’t really understand him much -recitations of some verses of the Quran - akad nikah done over the table as opposed to sitting down in Malaysia etc. Some touching moments there of course.Lisa’s dad gave Lisa a bracelet that he had bought 11 years ago and he told his wife “Akanku berikan bracelet ini kepada Lisa di hari pernikahannya” and Lisa did say a few words to her parents, thanking them etc.The room was filled with love all over!*sebak!*
The ceremony at night.Same place,at the gedung.Gedung is not actually a dewan. It’s a building.Quite a grand ceremony.Everybody dressed up to the occasion. It was a traditional Javanese wedding.Glittering bridal costumes-Javanese male dancer (not really dancing but rather slightly moved his hands up and down and walking in gracefully, leading the bride and bridegrooms to their pelamin.Guests will queue up to go up the stage and shake hands and convey congratulatory wishes to the newly-weds.Both parents from both sides were also present on the stage. The line was just endless.I couldn’t imagine how tired they all must have been.No meja santapan so they practically skipped dinner or perhaps have late dinner?!!??Boleh tahan ke??hahahah…;P But they all glowed in joy whilst all the guests tucked in excellent Indo cuisine from the food galore.I managed to sample ‘Mie Kocok’, ‘Nasi + Lauk yg bermacam2′ Es Doger etc. There were no tables and chairs provided because Indo weddings are rather informal compared to the Malaysian ones.People just mingled around and chat.Beautiful wedding and of course Lisa looked so beautiful that night. It was really a very pleasant experience!
Day 3
De-tached from the group. They all went elsewhere.
Took a cab to MONAS (Monumen Nasional).Strolled along for a bit.Great weather.No haze!!(Unfair sungguh!!!hahahaha xP)
Plaza Indonesia - upmarket mall.Felt like I was in Starhill (the old one before revamped)
Senayan City - Another upmarket mall ala2 Siam Paragon.Just opened last month. The cinema there Studio XI is top-notch man!!with lounge and everything.Very classy I must say.Met up with Dirra, former coursemate at Uni. and she treated me to lunch at the food court,Sari Ratu Nasi Padang.Lots of catching up,she asked about Kups,Sal etc.
She then showed me around Jakarta:Little Korea,Srivijaya (I think) an affluent area where a lot of diplomats and upper class Jakartans live.Area very well tended indeed. She also took me to a bakery to buy Bika Ambon, belanja me Bubble Tea at Quickly before sending me back to the hotel.Arrived just in time to catch the van to the airport.Nasib baik, kalau tak mesti Faisal dah tinggal kan aku pulak!hahah
Pleasant journey to the airport. No MACET!
KL 810 CGK - KUL 1850 2150.Flight was also full to the brim!
