Gallery: Spontaneous Portraits A spontaneous portrait differs from a snapshot in that it is not without artistic merit. Generally, the photographer will loosely prepare a shooting area for a subject or subjects and will allow the subject(s) to interact with the environment while hunting for the right moment to take the photo. This differs from classical portraits in that they are not meticulously posed - it is a photo derived from the cooperation between photographer and model.
