Well, that is me trying ‘Lesehan’ which is a traditional style of dining cross-legged on straw mats. I ate ‘Nasi Gudek’ that night, influenced maybe by the rave reviews that I got from guidebooks, family and friends. In my defense I must say that I tried really hard to stomach it, really hard. Looking at the food I don’t see anything that’s worth the hype, it looks as if it came out from a crime scene from a CSI episode. I know that we shouldn’t talk about food that way, but I’m just concerned that people would order something that they wouldn’t eat. It would be a waste of precious rice. Unless you know that ‘Fear Is Not a Factor’ for you, then go ahead and be my guest. As for me and my brother, we turn to western gastronomy for comfort whenever we’re famished. The American embassy with the golden arches seems to be the natural choice–McD-. Complete with the trappings of your regular airport security system, you need to go through metal detectors just to get your hands on a couple of Double-Chees Burgers and a box of McNuggets.
