More 'gators
The lake where we were was about a mile wide, but only 5 to 8 feet deep all the way across. That would make a great swimming hole, if it weren't for the blue million alligators that call the lake home. We took a boat tour of the lake, and snapped these pics of the gators sunning themselves in the morning sun. Apparently, when they get warmed up in the sun, their bodies can digest the food they ate the night before. If they get too hot, they open thier mouths to cool off. If this bit of temperature regulation doesn't help (it usually only helps them cool off for a little while) they have to go out into the water and cool down for a while.

During the day, they lay around a lot, or swim out to safety if they are approached, but at night, they will basically attack anything that moves. They are amazing animals, though I have no desire to wrestle or mess with them in any way...

There were literally hundreds of them around the shores of the lake, and the river which flows out of the lake.

More on that tomorrow.
